The beginner's class starts around 8:00pm till 9:00pm and consist of four simple dance moves.

Our classes are designed for the inexperienced dancer but advanced modern jivers often join in. The support and friendliness you will encounter at this point from people you have only just met really helps you through those first difficult moments. The four moves build with your confidence into a flowing routine.

A 15 minute fun freestyle follows, where you get to relax, maybe run through those new moves or have a drink from the bar.

Intermediates class starts at 9:15pm till 10:00pm contains four, more challenging dance moves designed for dancers with the confidence to take the extreme fun to another level.

While this class is progressing "The THING" Coaches will run through the beginners moves again on a more informal one on one. This is a great chance to smooth out your dance style.

Following all the classes is a Wild Freestyle 10:00pm till 11:00pm  with our in house DJ's playing, modern chart, Latino, Funky disco and modern jive anthems. All this keeps the dance floor throbbing! If you want to request a track before you arrive please email requests@thething.uk.com and we will be happy to add this to our evenings playlist. (Please make sure you email before 4PM on the day you are dancing otherwise the track will be in the playlist the week following)

Our Freestyle events are fantastic nights that have proven to be very popular and on the nostalgic sprung floor at the Woodlands an amazing experience.

Music, Old and new from Frank, Glen Miller to Black Eyed Peas and James Blunt etc to satisfy all those swing lovers, then Latino, sixties, Motown right up to Modern day Gems that never fail to fill the dance floor.

The main idea is to play every anthem that made you jump to your feet and set the dance floor alight with your best moves.

We also stage Special nights Such as The BOUNCING BALL at Christmas (always sells out and not to be missed) so keep your eyes peeled.
